Roo reads the room.
Then opens its mouth.
It’s 3am. You’re asleep. Roo isn’t. It reads your live order data first, answers second, and shows exactly which order it checked.
Same question. One of them can prove it.
A generic chatbot sounds just as confident when it's wrong. The only visible difference is whether the answer shows where it came from.
Will my order arrive before the weekend?
Yes, it’ll be there by Friday. You’re all set.
It’s with Australia Post now, but they haven’t given a delivery date yet, so I won’t promise Friday. I’ll message you the moment they do.
Both answers took a second. Only one of them can tell you where it got the answer.
Grounded in, reads from, and runs on
Not a customer list. This is what AskRoo is built on, the carriers it reads live, and the models you can point it at.
The maths is the argument.
Support that a human touches costs real money, and most of it is the same few questions. Automating those well is the whole opportunity.
Human-assisted contact
$13.50
AI self-service contact
$1.84
AI self-service runs at roughly an eighth of the cost of a human-assisted contact.4 The trick is doing it without inventing answers.
The market
What we’re building toward
AskRoo is pre-launch. These are targets we’re building to and will publish against — not measured results.
60%+
WISMO and returns deflection within 60 days of going live.
< 3s
Median first response, or the conversation escalates.
< 15 min
From install to live on your storefront.
0
Hallucinated specs, prices or stock claims. Audited weekly.
6
LLM providers supported, chosen on eval results.
Six jobs, each done narrowly and well.
Every one reads live store data and shows its work. None of them improvise on your behalf.
Fifteen minutes, not a project.
No theme code, no data uploads, nothing acting on your behalf before you allow it. Here's the whole setup.
- 1
Install
One click from the Shopify App Store.
AskRoo installs as a theme app extension, so no theme code is edited. Nothing breaks when you change themes, and there's nothing to paste into your storefront.
no theme code touched
- 2
Sync
Catalogue, policies and FAQs ingest automatically.
Your catalogue, returns policy and FAQs are read and indexed for retrieval. You don't upload anything — AskRoo reads what's already in your store.
~3 min for a typical store
- 3
Set the rules
Tone, banned topics, discount policy, when to escalate.
You decide how it sounds and where its limits are. Defaults are conservative — auto-approve returns is off until you turn it on — so nothing acts on your behalf before you've said it can.

Go live
The widget appears on your storefront.
Turn it on and watch the dashboard. Every answer is inspectable and every automated action is reversible, so going live is something you can watch, not a leap of faith.
every action reversible

There’s no pricing page.
We haven’t written it yet.
AskRoo is in beta, so the first three months are free. No card, no catch, no fine print — mostly because we haven’t built any of that yet. You bring the messy real tickets and honest feedback. Roo brings the answers.
No card up front. Leaving means uninstalling — or just closing the tab. We’ll cope.
Be one of the first Australian stores on AskRoo.
AskRoo is pre-launch and we're not pretending otherwise. Instead of borrowed testimonials, here's a straight offer to the merchants who get in early.
What you get
- A direct line to the team building it, not a support queue
- Founding-member perks, locked in for as long as you stay
- Real influence on what gets built next
What we ask
- Real ticket volume, so we learn from actual shoppers
- About thirty minutes of feedback a week
- Patience with a young product that's honest about its edges
The first cohort is twenty Australian Shopify stores. We review applications one at a time.

If it isn't here, ask us directly — we'd rather answer than have you guess.
Four things, working together. It retrieves from your live catalogue rather than a model's memory. Price and stock are fetched live at the moment of the answer, never recalled. Below a confidence threshold it escalates to a human instead of guessing. And we run a weekly audit of 50 real conversations for hallucinated specs, prices or stock — with zero tolerance. The point of the product is that it doesn't bluff, so we measure whether it does.
PII is retained for 90 days by default. Hosting is in an Australian region. Handling is aligned to the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles for Australian merchants, and to GDPR for EU merchants. We request the minimum Shopify scopes needed, and we've completed Shopify's Level 2 protected customer data access. The full detail is on the privacy page.
No. It initiates returns. Refunds and order edits stay with you, by design. An agent that can move money on its own is a risk you didn't ask for.
No. AskRoo installs as a theme app extension, so no theme code is edited and nothing breaks when you switch themes.
Six providers, with a supported-models list published from our eval results rather than picked by brand. You can bring your own key; it's encrypted at rest, validated on entry, and never logged.
It escalates with full context instead of guessing. The human who picks up gets the transcript, the order and a ticket reference, and the shopper doesn't repeat themselves. That behaviour is the whole point, not a fallback we're embarrassed by.
Not yet. Web chat is what ships now. Email is Phase 2, SMS and WhatsApp are Phase 3, and voice isn't planned. We'd rather do a few channels properly than all of them badly.
One store per install in v1.
No. There's no SLA management, no macros, no multi-channel ticketing. It's a support agent with a lightweight inbox, and it's better at that for being narrow.
Nothing. The first three months are free — the whole thing, not a stripped-down trial — while AskRoo is in beta. No card up front, no surprise invoice. We'll be upfront about what comes after well before it arrives.
An Australian shopper's evening is a US support team's night, so grounded automation matters more here. We ship Australian English, returns language aligned with Australian Consumer Law, and Australian-region data handling — properly, not as an afterthought.
Answers your shoppers can check.
Join the Australian beta and put a grounded support agent in front of your shoppers — one that shows its source, or escalates instead of guessing.
